Taster Sessions

Over the next few days, we will be holding taster sessions to show you what Modern Pentathlon is all about. They are suitable for all abilities and experience, so come along and have a go. There are plenty of socials mixed in along with the training, so come along to them and get to know the club!

Wednesday 3rd – Circuits and fencing drills – Blythe Room, Clare College Colony from 5:30pm – 7pm. A light circuits and drills session to get a feel for the important movements involved in fencing. Meet by the entrance to Clare Colony and someone will be waiting to show you the way.

Thursday 4th – Swimming – Leys Swimming Pool from 7am – 8am. A fairly easy swimming session to get some sort of feel for the water. There will be a group leaving from outside Trinity Great Gate at 6.45am, or from outside Pembroke Porter’s Lodge at 6.50am. We’ll be cycling over, so let me know if you don’t have access to a bike.

Thursday 4th – BREAKFAST SOCIAL – After swimming, come and try another college for a great breakfast and get to know the current club!

Friday 5th – TEA RUN SOCIAL – Meet at 4:30pm at Trinity Great Gate for a relaxed 30 minute jog at ‘talking pace’ where you can chat to friendly committee members and have all your questions answered. There will be tea and cakes provided afterwards. If you just fancy the tea rather than the run, then turn up to Trinity Great Gate at about 5.00pm and you should catch us finishing.

Friday 5th – Shooting – Murray Edwards Long Room between 6pm and 8pm. For those of you that want to try something else after tea run and anyone else keen to shoot some laser pistols, meet just inside the main entrance to Murray Edwards or head over with us from Trinity. Please sign up on the Gun Signup Form for a gun so we can fit everyone in the range!

Sunday 7th – Fencing – University Sports Centre from 8:30am – 10.30am. If you don’t know the way, there will be groups leaving from outside Sainsbury’s and from outside Fitzwilliam Porter’s Lodge at 8.15am. We’ll be cycling over, so let me know if you don’t have access to a bike.

Sunday 7th – COLLEGE BARS SOCIAL – Starting at Clare at 8pm we’ll go on a tour around the central college bars; discover new colleges and meet the current club in a relaxed atmosphere!

Monday 8th – Combined Event – Wychfield Gardens 5:30pm – 6:30pm. A mixture of running and shooting, just like it is in competitions. It’ll be short There will be a group cycling over from outside Trinity Great Gate at 5:15pm if you want help finding your way there.

Tuesday 9th – Swimming – Leys Swimming Pool from 7am – 8am. A fairly easy swimming session to get some sort of feel for the water. Wednesday 10th – Running – Wilberforce Road Athletics track 7am – 8am. This will be intervals – short, sharp bursts of running combined with the triathlon club. We’ll be waiting outside Sainsbury’s at 6.45am to show people the way.

Saturday 13th – CUPPERS – University Sports Centre from 10:30am – 12.30am. A chance to show off all of your freshly learned skills in a casual competition amongst all of the new starters, followed by BRUNCH at Murray Edwards. Come along whether or not you’ve made it to anything else yet and bring something you’re comfortable running in. Check out the Facebook event here.

You are welcome to come to as little or as many of these sessions as you want, there are a lot to allow flexibility. All sessions are suitable for all abilities and we provide all necessary equipment and coaching.
